When I first started blogging..
I thought to myself, "I'll never write a sponsored post" It's not because I didn't want to, it's because I don't want to offend anyone. I want you to know, before I even ask, that I would NEVER say something about a company or product that I didn't think was true. You can be assured that everything on my blog, is my opinion, and I don't fabricate anything.
So, what I wanted to ask,
Would you be offended or pushed away (from my blog) if I were to write an occasional sponsored post? The only reason I've had a change of heart about writing sponsored posts, is that, well.. I'm embarassed to admit it, but my family is in some financial trouble.
With everything that has gone on with my grandpa, his medical bills are through the roof. All, and any income pretty much goes to him.. Which I don't mind, I mean his health comes first. Me and Aaron have been saving money for a while, but it's not enough to really get anywhere with. Me and Aaron have been thinking about getting married, we've talked about it, and we think that until we become more financially stable, we should hold off. I keep trying to save more and more, but I have to give my gramdpa money every pay check. Then, I am also sponsoring all these high dollar giveaways, and I just don't have anything to put into the savings.
So, if all of you would be ok with it, I would like to write a few sponsored posts every now and then. Like I said, everything would be based my honest opinion, so even though there is a small amount of money involved, it doesn't change anything.
Please let me know what you think! I know, it's my blog, but I consider all of you a part of it! I mean, I wouldn't have such a wonderful, successful blog if it wasn't for all of you! :)
Thanks everyone!
Take Care!

I would absolutely not be offended by sponsored posts. You seem to be such a wonderful granddaughter and a very forthright, honest and compassionate person. So I say go for whatever feels right for you - whatever means you get to still be true to yourself. If you are as upfront in any potential future sponsored posts as you are right now in this blog, then I think you'll be just fine. Good luck with your decision and all the best to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind at all.
ReplyDeleteMany blogs do sponsored posts- it is how they pay for their blog hosting and put a little in their pocket (which is only right)
It IS your blog- some will read the sponsored stuff, some wont. Same as when you blog now.
Your a good person Amanda, do what you need to do to help your family.
Huge hugs to you- and hope your Grandpa is doing better.
most blogs do some so i dont see why it would bother anyone, if the content is interesting to me i will read it and if not not, same for anyone so why should that bother anyone?
ReplyDeleteI also planning to do sponsored post because somehow in a little way it helps.
ReplyDeleteI do read sponsored post not just giveaway post.
i think you should go for it. :)
ReplyDeleteI think as long as you put a disclosure statement at the top of the post so those who don't want to deal with it can just skip over it, no one can really complain. It's your blog, do with it what you want!
ReplyDeleteNo at all, bring on the sponsored posts. I see nothing wrong with it! :)
ReplyDeleteGo for it. People who read your blog can see that you are honest about what you write when it comes to products and know that you will not just choose any sponsored post. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAs long as you're being honest and writing about products that you believe in, you should definitely be paid for your time! Your writing skills and influence are very valuable to companies. You shouldn't hesitate to accept compensation because you're providing a worthwhile service.
ReplyDeleteI agree...go for it! I'll still be reading!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, We all have to do things we don't like sometimes. If your like me, YOUR family MUST come first!!! I think it is admirable for you to explain to everyone. You have so many followers who WILL completly understand. Don't worry about losing anyone, because most if not all, would do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteRight now you should think about your family. When you get back on your feet, you can go back and only do your reviews, if you like.
Hope your grandpa has a quick recovery.
I would have no problem with you doing that. There's nothing wrong with you making use of the tools you have as long as you continue to be honest.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't bother me either, I love honest posts and reviews.
ReplyDeleteIf my husband and I waited until we were financially stable to get married we would have never gotten married LOL. We both do the best we can and make the most of what we have together. We are very happy with each other and take care of each other and are always there for each other.. that's what matters!
Of course it's ok amanda!! You do what you gotta do :)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about it, just do it :)
ReplyDeleteI am not going to be offended at all. I wish I can offer giveaways and also offer more offers on mine. I am new to blogging. I would love to do more reviews to for companies. I wish your grandpa the best, I understand.
ReplyDeleteOh I would not be offended at all!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind at all. :)
ReplyDeleteGo for it! You do what you need to do for your family. I don't see how anyone would have an issue with that.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind sponsored posts at all. I think you are a wonderful person for helping out with your grandfather financially. I love all the high priced giveaways you do but if you need the money, keep some for yourself - you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteI don't see a problem with it. I think every little bit helps, and it's not like you'll be doing 20 sponsored posts every day. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mind a bit! You should feel proud to have the skills and personality to have companies want to sponsor you!
ReplyDeleteit wont bother me at all. i like reading what others think of things
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea I think for you! I think you should go for it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been blogging that long (less than a year), and haven't written a paid post yet, but in my opinion - paid posts are perfectly ok as long as it fits with the blog. If I was reading a blog focused around babies, I'd be turned off by seeing a paid post about a popular dating site. Now if it were about baby health & safety - or something that went with the blogs theme - then I would continue to support that blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with sponsored posts. Just make sure you phrase your disclosure statement to meet the requirements of the FTC or FCC or whoever is governing the blogs now.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I really envy people who can work at home as professional bloggers. I'd love to build my blog to the point where companies would want to give me free stuff to review, free stuff to give away, and maybe someday offer to write me a check for my time and effort. If you have the opportunity, I say, "Go for it!"
Don't see any problem with that. Doesn't mean all sponsored posts are bad. I hope to be able to do some of those in the future too.
ReplyDeleteJust leave a lil note for those who dislike such posts so they know to skip it
Go for it! Not only could it be helpful for you but encouraging to those of us who would like to get some of our expenses paid for blogging (we all know it is not really free) and do not know where to begin.
ReplyDeleteI would not be offended - times are tough. If sponsored posts help you take care of your family, I hope I see many of them! I, for one, will stick around!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see them and am so sorry for your troubles! I think that there are so many in the same situtation, like me :)
