The worst spider I've ever come in contact with :

As you all might remember, I absolutely hate spiders. They give me the creeps.

Well the other day I went on a walk, and I had the fortune of coming face to face with this ^. I still shutter at the thought of seeing him.

This spider was absolutely ridiculous. I mean, it looks terrible! Yellow and Black?!?! WHOA! Stay away from me!

If you look close enough, you'll notice that there is actually a cockroach in this spiders mouth :O!

In the next couple days I am going to try and start really catching up, and updating all of you with information. I know some of you are dying to know what we named the Kitty, and I am happy to say, we did pick out a name, but I won't be sharing it right now, I'm saving it for a soon-to-come post.
And yes, I will have winners posted soon :)

  5. Amanda, I have to tell you this story prompted by your pic and post. In South Louisiana, in the rural areas, these things are very populous. And when I say "populous", I mean they live in communes. One day I took my kids to see a friend's rabbits (she lives way out in the country) and we had to walk down a heavily overgrown foot path to God-knows-where. It was far.

So we're walking along, I'm talking to the kids (3 and 4 yrs old) and all of a sudden I find myself ENSNARED in something from a horror movie. I had walked into an elaborate web system, built across the trail, and there were what seemed like hundreds of these things everywhere, hanging in the air. OMG. And LOTS of them were on me!!

The woman I was with just brushed them off calmly and told me to calm down, that they were harmless. The kids were F-R-E-A-K-E-D. LOL

The end of the story is that I wasn't bitten at all (supposedly they won't bite *humans*) ...but I wasn't scared of spiders going in and I'm still not ...just very very wary. There's nothing like walking into a nest of steel fiber, though .....yikes!
    (She calls them banana spiders.)

  8. Are those called St. Andrews Cross Spiders? My friends dad used to always have at least one in his overgrown yard all the time...I am terrified of spiders, but I would always take photos of them because they were so gigantic & disturbing looking.

  10. Spiders freak me out for some reason (only if their big) which where I live in KY they are humongous!! Literally I found a HUGE spider in my closet on my clothes so I no longer use that closet anymore. Also in the back yard on the back of our house is some more HUGE spiders. They literally jump right at you when you walk by...eeeck cold chills! Also our friend crawled underneath our house and said there is like a large amount living under there. I really feel like we live in that house from the spider movie? Where the little boy knows everyhing about spiders and tries to tell everyone about them when their attacking. It has John Goodman in it. I think it's called, "Arachnophobia?" If I seen one looking all colorful like that I would really freak. We have brown muculous? or something like that which are harmful here. There is also alot of black widows. Spider country I guess. What state out there has the less spiders?? Here I come...
