From that... (On their 24th day of life!) to this..!
Ask.. and you shall receive :)!Several of you have been expressing how much you would love to see me "put the rats back in Rats and More" SO.. I am! :)!
I've been wanting to for a while now, but was a little skeptical. So thank you all for the encouragement - I am thrilled to be sharing my rats again! Maybe I'll do it every week (Just share a few pictures.)
I wanted to start with the "babies" though.
You may remember back in October, I had a litter of babies, and I had documented about their first month of life.
Here they were on their first day:
And as you can see they have definitely grown up :D
Because I can't put my males and females together to take pictures (can't have any more babies, haha!) I decided to only do the males right now. If I decide to do this next week, I'll show the girls :)
The girls are quite smaller than the boys, but they've definitely grown up too.
As you can see, I used to be able to fit 12 babies in my hands.. now I can barley fit 3 on my chest lol:
And I love this.. The nakie has gotten so big. Here is was in his 5th week of life:
And here he is, about an hour ago:
A lot bigger huh?!
I hope you all enjoyed seeing them again, and we'll see about next week with the girls. I guess it just depends on if everyone enjoys there ones :)
The naked rats still amaze me... I dont think I have ever seen one in person . They change from having a bit of fur to having none and their facial expressions always seem a bit different than the hairy ones.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back ratties you have grown!
Haha - I think it's because the hairless ones have more definition to their face. Sometimes during the winter, a few of my hairless ones will get a very small fuzz coat, but normally they just stay hairless :P
DeleteI love seeing them! I used to have mice and we had several accidental litters (the Mamas were apparently already pregnant when I got them at the pet store), so we saw the whole progression from naked pinkies, to absolutely adorable babies! I have never seen a hairless rat though, didn't even know they existed until I read your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures! It's great to see their progression. And the naked one is cool :)
ReplyDeleteawww the one day rates are so adorable!

I love that you have a pile of baby rats in your hands. That's so cute. I would be so afraid to touch them being that small!
ReplyDeleteI love your rats so much..thank you for bringing them back to your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Amanda
Oh they sure did:)
ReplyDeleteThere so cute!
I think they are cute too! Glad they are back even my husband looked at the ones dressed up and the ones you entered into contests we voted on:) Do not worry about the negative people just tell them not to come back to your blog because this is you!! Most of us love it for the rest, well I can't leave the words here:)I love the fact you have them and are teaching us about them, even in my old age:)
ReplyDeleteWow! They are growing up fast!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos! Their little faces are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics, thanks for sharing! How did you end up with a naked rat? is that rare?
ReplyDeleteIt just means their missing their gene for hair :) - It is definitely more rare than a regular rat with hair, but the rarest is called a "Patchwork Rat." I've had hairless rats for a while, and I have successfully bred them on numerous occasions :)
DeleteI am so curious, what made you start liking rats so much? It's definitely not the norm. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's actually kinda funny. I was at work (I used to work at Whole Foods/ Wild Oats) and there was a pet store right beside us. I went in during my break, and something came over me that day, so I decided to get some. I was getting off in an hour, so I got 2 - The rest is history :D
Deletemy brother raised rats - i used to raise hamsters :) thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAww wow they have grown up pretty fast.
