My Least Favorite Thing About Summer: Spiders
I just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten about you - I have slowly been working on drafting a lot of posts and stuff for later dates, but will soon be working on some current stuff for all of you as well - Including a few super awesome giveaways!
I didn't want to leave you completely hanging - So I thought I'd share my least favorite thing about summer with all of you. You'd think, with me being in Florida, it would be the heat. But no - It's what the heat brings. Which is tons of disgusting spiders. I walk every day and I get so paranoid because there are webs all over the place, and you always see huge, gross spiders chilling in there webs.
Well tonight we found 2 (What I think are) Brown Widow spiders. 1 on our front porch, and 1 on our back. We've seen these on several different occasions though.
I'm sure if you've followed me for a while you have realized that I just can't stand spiders. I cannot wait for winter because you never see them then, and plus I really love the colder weather :)!
And since I'm speaking of spiders. I know I posted this on my Facebook wall a while ago, but for those of you who missed it.. I was working a few weeks ago, with my cousin, and I ran into this:
I swear that thing was as big as the palm of my hand. And you should have saw it crawling around later that night- Creepiest. Thing. Ever.
And sometime earlier this year, I posted about this ugly thing that I ran into on a morning walk:
We have had several of the big brown ones in our house, and I like pray every night that one doesn't find it's way into my room, because I might literally die.
As I'm posting this I am actually getting a little creeped out, so I gotta stop, lol!
Do any of you have nasty spiders like this around?

You know what's funny? Spiders give me the heebie jeebies, but ever since I had an 'awakening' awhile back, I can't kill them! I'll still internally squeal like a little girl when I come in close proximity, but I have to trap and let them go.
ReplyDeleteWeird, I know. But did you know they're a sign on good luck?
Fun fact of the day :)
Oh wow, I definitely didn't know that they were a sign of luck, thanks for sharing - I must be really lucky then lol >.<!
DeleteI can't kill them either (or any bug for that matter - We sometimes get sweet ants in our sink and a blow them, and wait for them to cross out of the sink before I turn the water on) if they're in our house I have someone else take care of them, but I don't want anything to do with them O.o
There are more spiders here is the summer for sure- nothing like your year round (or almost year round) things in Florida but we see the barn and wolf spiders more. And no they arent just in barns they hang out everywhere.
ReplyDeleteWith it being so dry here I am seeing bunches of wolf spiders. You wanna see something ugly, google them... no nevermind you dont wanna know!
Omg, I have seen those wolf spiders! We had one in our house a few months ago, but I was too scared to even come out of my room until it was dead. *Shiver*
DeleteAmanda, I would be careful with the brown ones because on TV I seen that in Florida they are having problems with brown recluse (don't know how to spell it) and they are deadly, maybe you should get them checked out!
ReplyDeleteWe have a ton of those down here! I never see to many of those (That I know of) but I know they're everywhere, and the bites are sick! My friend got bitten by one a couple years ago and it literally like deteriorated her leg.
DeleteYuk! I agree with you. The one thing I don't like about summer is spiders...especially the ones that find their way into my house!
ReplyDeleteUGH! I HATE spiders!!!
ReplyDeleteThat thing you saw with your cousin is terrifying! I would have been scared to even squish it, but I couldn't have let it stay on the porch.
They invade our porch out here too. (thankfully nothing that big!) I HATE them and the boyfriends kids get mad at me when I spray them to kill them. Don't care they are evil!
Luckily we weren't working in our home - We were painting someone else' - Trust me, I didn't step a foot onto that porch, lol!
DeleteI have just read that the brown widow spiders are less poisonous than the black widows. My husband just rid us of six black widow webs around our house. There will probably be more before summer is over. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteDanielle @ Royalegacy
Yea I was reading all about them yesterday - They still give the same effects (Like types of pain) but it's much more mild, and it won't kill you.
DeleteI hope they stay clear - And be careful! Hopefully you don't run into any more.
Ugh! One more reason to be glad I left Florida! We don't have anything quite that scary, but our basement is infested with the big spiders we do have. I've managed to avoid going down there completely, but it makes doing laundry very tricky (washer & dryer are in the basement).
ReplyDeleteIt's weird - I was never scared of spiders as a kid, it's just a weird fear that I've developed as an adult. Have you always hated them?
I wasn't always afraid of them. In-fact, when I was about 10 I would catch them. One night I had a dream about a giant spider, and ever since that night I've been terrified of them.
DeleteAlthough I don't like spiders I do have them in the house, but usually not the very big ones
ReplyDeleteYou just creeped me out. Seriously. I have nasty chills going up and down my spine. Yuck. I am not scared of much, but spiders is one of those things that I am definitely scared of. Just like you, I hope every night that I don't have spiders crawl in my bed with me. Shiver
ReplyDeleteSorry Jaime! I hope they stay away from you!
DeleteWow, I actually just woke up feeling something tickle my back. It kept on so, I pulled my shirt off to find a big black spider!!!Yuck!! My skin is still crawling:( I really hate spiders, I know exactly how you feel.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!!! I would die!
DeleteIt's raining where I am and right now, spiders seem better than frogs! The pictures do look very creepy though!
ReplyDeleteI guess I jinxed myself. When I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom there was a big spider on the floor beside the toilet.
ReplyDeleteI yelled. I killed it. There was no way I was going to try to transport it outside.
Oh geez! Glad you got it though!
DeleteYuck I absolutely hate spiders and have nightmares about them. I dream they are descending from the ceiling towards me in bed.
ReplyDeleteThat would be really creepy to look up and see that!
DeleteI hate spiders! They are just nasty and gross. I think they are about the only thing that can make me squeal and I have to have them killed, I either kill them or if I can't get to them (I am short, lol) someone has to do it.
ReplyDeleteUgh I LOATHE spiders! I cringe at the thought of them. we get a lot of small ones inside my apartment and I end up killing at least 2 each day =/ That spider pictured is super creepy!
ReplyDeleteI so agree. We live in Oklahoma where wolf spiders and tarantula seem to be everywhere. We mowed the yard the other day and 2 wolf spiders along with a snake scurried out of the grass..ughh!
ReplyDeleteifound a baby one while I was working out - good thing I was doing downward dog, it was easy to kill!
ReplyDeleteeugh...spiders! Weird looking one! I once got bit by a spider and it was not fun:-(
ReplyDeleteI hate spiders too. We went and looked at the house we are going to be buying yesterday and there were visible spider webs all over the grass. EEK!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Arizona, we had some really nasty, hairy brown ones with billions of eyes. I couldn't kill them though, it was just too frightening.
ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to bet good money that spiders come straight from Satan himself. Blech!!
ReplyDeleteI hate spiders too!!!
ReplyDeleteEwww... I HATE spiders!! They are so scary. When I was staying with my parents, I always used to make my mom get rid of them. Now that I've married and moved with my husband, it is my husband who does that :D
ReplyDeleteI just cant seem to get over my fear of spiders. Fueled by the spider man movies notion that if a spider bit me, it would change my DNA and make me spiderwoman doesn't help either!
*shivers* i hate spiders. mom was bit by a brown recluse years ago, and i remember seeing her bone. it ate all the way down to the bone. it was wicked.
ReplyDeleteEwwww....the first year we were here we had some nasty ones. Last 2 years none whew
ReplyDeleteI can handle small ones but the big ones NO thank you.
ReplyDeleteI just really hate the 100 degee heat!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. Yes, we have spiders here in BC, Canada and I hate them too. The Wolf spiders come out at night to hunt, so they are not confined to a web, and they are big...scary!
ReplyDeleteWhat I really hate is the mosquitoes, the spiders eat them so though I don't care for spiders, mosquitoes make the top of my hate list.
ReplyDeleteI am WITH you on this!!!! I can't even look at your photos....lol! I'm getting sweaty and anxious just thinking of spiders. I don't mind other things like rats/mice or snakes but spiders-ewwwwwww. There was one dangling from our tv this am and I about died. Thankfully my husband was still home so he took care of it. I really don't mind them OUTSIDE *(not on me!) but I just can't take it when they're in the house-unless they're in the ceiling corner and don't move from that spot!
ReplyDeleteThat one spider is HUGE!!!! And that first one definitely does look like a brown widow...
ReplyDeleteOops, black widow haha
ReplyDeleteI hate spiders too!!! Oh my goodness, nasty!
