Thanks to Zombie Gnomes for providing me with a free Zombie Gnome to review!
I'd started watching zombie movies probably about 2 years ago, and then... this show, called, "The Walking Dead" came out. After seeing it, I literally just fell in love. I'm now addicted to the show, and pretty much anything zombie related.
So one day, I was browsing around on Pinterest, and I saw the Bye Bye Birdie Lawn Ornament. As soon as I saw it, I told myself "That is something that I need to have!" So I decided to try and contact Chris and Jane's Place on Etsy (They handcraft all of there Zombie Gnomes right in California!) to see if they might be interested in working with me on a review and giveaway.. And guess what? They were! I am so honored to be the first Blogger they work with too!
After my initial email, I just couldn't wait to receive the Bye Bye Birdie. It takes 2 very common lawn ornaments (gnomes and flamingos) and it turns it into one awesome collaboration of the 2! I just love it, and I really like how you get a sense of comedy with it when you see them eating the ever-so-common flamingo.
(Don't you just love the creepy feel you get from these photos? The top one looks like a zombie could be about to walk out from the pitch black background, and the bottom one just looks so appropriate in that natural moonlight - I was so happy to have captured such great shots, which really show the quality of these hand-painted items!)
The only negative thing I could possibly say is that the delivery time is a little slower, but it's completely understandable, because each piece is hand cast, and hand painted, and if you just take a look at there Etsy shop, you can see that they literally have had almost 2,000 orders! Now that's a lot of zombie gnomes to paint!!
For being hand-painted, I don't think the quality could be any better. One tiny (and I mean tiny) spot on one of the gnomes feet was missing a speck of grey paint, but it was only after a very close inspection that I even realized.
Just look at these awesome close up shots:
(Similar shots, but I wanted you to be able to see them in the different light settings. The top one is with my camera flash, and the bottom one is just the natural lighting from my room.)
I would love to keep my statue outside, but we've had some thieves come through our neighborhood recently, and I truly am worried they'd try and steal it for themselves! So this now has a place on my marble pedestal - which is perfect, because I get to admire it all the time when I'm in my room ^.^.
Overall, I was really happy with my Bye Bye Birdie, and I am definitely considering adding a couple of the other zombie gnomes to my collection!
