6 Things You Need to Consider When Redecorating Your Bathroom

If you’re redecorating your bathroom, you’ll want to take the following things into consideration as you go. These tips, methods, techniques and pointers will help you plan ahead and create the best bathroom you can, even on a limited budget. This will help you get started on your stylistic journey by getting you organizing before you jump in with both feet. Keep each of these things in mind as you go through the planning stages of your redesign and you won’t be disappointed when you’re through!

1. Check out local garage sales
You’d be surprised at what you can find at local garage and estate sales that you can purchase and repurpose for your bathroom redecorating project. From vintage mirrors, to old stools, to old paintings to claw-foot tubs, you won’t run out of things that you can use to add character to your bathroom. What’s more, you can usually purchase them relatively cheap. Don’t skip the bargain bin – you never know what you might find that would look great in your new bathroom!

2. Try different colors
If you’re thinking of sticking to your usual routine when it comes to redecorating bathroom, try to get outside of your comfort zone. If you usually design things with multiple colors, try neutrals, white or another single color. On the other hand, if you usually keep things simple (say, black and white), get a little crazy with the color schemes.

3. Get vintage
If you’re not sure how to redecorate your bathroom, consider going vintage with it. For one, you have a new room where you can store all those collectibles and knickknacks that once were homeless and scattered throughout your home. Additionally, if you considered #1 from this list, chances are you found some neat vintage items that you can feature in your new bathroom.

4. Set a budget
When redecorating any room, it can be tempting to spend as much as it takes to get it perfect. But you don’t have to break the bank when redecorating your bathroom. Many of the considerations in this list will skew on the less costly side. And hey, why not make your wallet appear bigger than it actually is in addition to making your bathroom appear bigger. If you find yourself struggling to find cool items at a low price, don’t forget to check out your local auction house or auction sites online for cool gadgets that can be repurposed.

5. Don’t need to buy anything
This consideration may sound crazy, but the truth of the matter is you may have enough things lying around the house already to redecorate your bathroom in exactly the style you want it. Additionally, if your prime focus is to make your bathroom appear bigger, you may end up subtracting things rather than adding things. It’s all about your angle, so be sure to write out your goals on paper before you begin!

6. Mix and match can be mesmerizing
While most designers will tell you that you need to have a theme and stick to it, you want to be sure that your own unique style shines through. Sometimes this means employing multiple design elements. Mixing and matching different tile shapes, styles and colors along with different wall accents, fixtures and artwork can be mesmerizing to the eye. Try not to put too much stock in the “right way” to design and to be sure that you are designing in a way that showcases your unique character and style.

These tips and tricks and considerations should have you on the right path to a great bathroom redesign. While you think about these items, you can begin to select the colors, styles, characteristics and personality your bathroom will ultimately have. From there, you can begin to get down to the nitty gritty of actually designing and decorating the elements of your bathroom. Remember, you don’t have to spend a million bucks to design the bathroom of your dreams. With a few clever tricks, some patience and the wherewithal to find the items you need, you can decorate the best bathroom ever with moderate effort. Combine these tips with ideas of your own for the best result and some of them will even work to help your small bathroom appear bigger than it really is. You’re ready! You have all you need to create the bathroom of your dreams.
