So about 2 weeks ago, I was given a very cool opportunity to view the new, 9/11 movie, which stars Charlie Sheen, and Whoopi Goldberg.
9/11 is a new movie, based on the original play, The Elevator, that centers on the events of September 11, 2001. No matter where you were, or what you were doing, we all have some connection to the event, whether we heard it on the news, saw the effects in person, or even lost someone in the tragic event.
I personally, was in 5th grade. We were just having a normal day, and then the phones started ringing, and our teacher turned on the television. We all sat quietly, some crying, most of us confused and within an hour, 3/4ths of the children in the class room, were picked up by their parents.
We were all in shock, and absolutely terrified. My family came to pick me up about 30 minutes after we first learned. That period of time, will never leave my head, because I, like so many, did not understand the events I was seeing unfold in my eyes.
I went home, and cried. I cried as we saw peoples lives ending, and I cried for days later, thinking of all of those innocent people, who lost their lives on that horrific day. Since then, I have always been very sensitive to the subject, but always watch all of the movies, and I have read so many articles, and stories, surrounding the events.
So when I was given this opportunity to view the movie before it's release date (which is actually in theaters starting today, September 8th, 2017.) I of course could not pass up on the opportunity.
This story is actually based on a true story and chronicles the lives of five average, everyday people who find themselves trapped in an elevator during the events of 9/11 in the World Trade Center.
The movie is of course very scary, because you are seeing the events that actually occurred to people, and you are feeling every notch of fear, during the film, knowing that 5 real people had to endure what these people do in the movie, is heartbreaking. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the movie, and would definitely recommend checking it out for yourself.
