Look at Life

Why you should have a rat as a pet.
I know what your probably thinking; ew no way! But please, hear me out.
Rats are very intelligent creatures, and there also very clean!
A domestic rat is so much different then a wild rat  (who they get there rep from)
For instance, my old pet rat Harry (RIP) was litterally one of the best pets  I ever had. I would take him to the park in my Small City and let him walk around and if I walked 15 feet away from him and then whistled hehe would come running after me ( YES he was trained)
Rats can be trained like a cat or dog. You can train them to come to you with a squeaky toy or certain sound, They can also be liter trained like a cat. They do need care  (just like any other pet) and you have to clean there cage depending on the size you have. Rats are very social so it is a good idea to have more then 1 unless you can spend ALOT of time with him/her. Unless you want little babies running around it is a good idea to have either a same sex pair or have one spayed/neutered . Rats are gentle and very loving, and they will sit right on your shoulder and fall asleep while you sit and watch a movie. A female rat is more energetic then a male so if you dont want to have a highly energetic rat it is better to get a male, but both make great pets.  If you have allergies you could get a hairless rat like me, I love hairless  rats because they are really soft and  I think they seem more mellow and calm. There are many different types of rats, like, dumbo, hairless, hooded, rex, blue, satin, and the list goes on and on. I have had many different types and right now the kinds I have are...
Dumbos, Hairless, Rex,Agouti, Fawn, Himalayan, Hooded, and a few others. I also have hairless mice and HET Hairless mice. The color of their skin and the type of fur do not affect there personality though. I  could go on and on, but I'll leave it to you. If you have ANY other questions and you need help picking out a good rat then please let me know. I am here for anything you need. Together we can show the world that rats are not just pests. Lets show some compassion.

This was one of my first hairless rats, Nakie.

and below was his (pregnant) girlfrend: Mom Rat

My Dogs..
My dogs are so funny! Even though Necco was just fixed 3 days ago hes still happy and jumping around. I put on this Pig Nose that I bought online and as soon as the dogs made eye contact  I knew I was in trouble.  I think they saw the nose and assumed something had attacked my face. They jumped on me and knocked my down, Necco grabbed the pig nose and ran, sadly the pig nose was thrown away because it had dog teeth marks and the string got broke. but it was so funny still, I wish we recorded it!

 Gated Communities stink.
So... I live in a gated community and let me say it really stinks! Alot of the people who live in the neighborhood are seasonal andhave really bad attitudes. Well they had a meeting the other day and they passed these new "community laws" and there trying to say were not allowed to paint our house, we're not allowed to plant anything in our yard, we're only allowed 2 pets; and get this, there trying to tell everyone we are required to give them a spare key  to our house, And um, I dont think so they will not get a key to our home, that is an invasion of privacy and it's just not right! It makes me so mad and I wish I could do something about it! But since I am not there homeowner I can't! :(
All I can do is rant.

 Thanks mom! :)
My mom is the best. I think she tries to be the best to make up for not having my father around, and  I really hope she knows how much I love her and how much I appreciate and respect her. Today she got me a gift.. The best gift ever.. A new 199.99 Ferret Nation Cage for my rats! I LOVE IT! and so do my rats! It very big and roomy, it's super easy to clean  because all you have to do is remove the trays and wash those. It really makes my life alot easier. The best part is that the cage is 4 stories! but you can lift up one of the ladders and make it into 2 seperate cages, it's great!

 I love The Biggest Loser
I don't know if any of you have ever watched or heard of The Biggest Loser. But it is the best show ever, it's not only inspirational but it's also educational! I never miss an episode. If you haven't seen it I really recommend it! Expecially for all of you ladies trying to get motivated to lose weight!

First time meeting Aaron's parents.
Aaron's parents just came down to Florida from North Carolina to visit. I was pretty nervous about about meeting them, but there really nice! Everytime we go somewhere there like  oh yeah get that,m get this like they want to spoil me lol ^.^ but it turns out they really like me because I make Aaron happy and they said next time we come down will probably be for your wedding; so it really seems like they think were good for each other, and that made me feel realy happy ! Love You Aaron! <3

 Painting
So this is my first time ever painting walls, and to be honest I thought it would be kinda fun, but I had to use a little roller while Aaron used the big one and it was super boring. I almost never want to paint again lol, but Im sure I will because I love the way my room looks; we painted it a medium color blue with yellow trim. Aaron did most of the work though because I kept getting to bored; I was like uhh I need to check my blog. I know he knew so he let it slide because he loves me :). Tomorrow I'll post pictures when its done so you can all enjoy :)!

 Rock Band 2
So back in December I got a call saying I won a Rock Band 2 system for Xbox 360. It wa sa contest caled Amplify your Journey. And to be honest I didn't think I was going to get it.But finally to my surprise it came yesterday! So yay! It's alot of fun playing the drums, guitar and singing :) Im super happy I won and I'm even more happy that I finally got it :)

Thrift Store Shopping
Today Me, Aaron and Grandma went Shopping at the local thrift stores. I went out hoping to get a new dresser, because the one I currently have is just nasty and ugly. So We get to the first local thrift store called OLOL and were looking around and don't really see anything, but me and Aaron decided to go upstairs and look around and grandma stayed down and was just browsing. Anyway she ended up calling us down so we went down and she found an amazing deal! A 3 piece bedroom dresser set on sale for 65$  normally priced at $50., $50, and $25. So I got them for a steal. Me and Aaron took them home and then came back for grandma . I am still in the process of trying to take apart the old one, so when I get the new ones all set up I'll put up pictures so you can all see what a great deal I got on it all!

Frying Pan Shaped like a pig; No go.
Yes I bought a Mini Frying Pan Shaped like a pig. It felt like a great idea; but sadly it was not. The eggs or pancakes are supposed to come out looking like a pig, but the problem is it is almost impossible to flip the pig egg without disfiguring it. So in the end I had an egg with a pig nose and thats it, and honestly it was not that pleasant to look at lol. If your ever think about buying a frying pan shaped like something then I would re-consider because they don't work that great. If anyone has one, and has had more success with it then please let me know :)

I love love love cows :)
ok so yes I have to admit I love cows. There is a cow enclosure right across the street from my neighborhood and me and Aaron like to go over there like at least every 2 days or so, so that I can feed them fresh cut apples and carrots. We'll about 2 years ago there was a very large black and white bull there who I named Baby Moo, and I was very very devastated when they took him away. I don't know where he went but I did imagine the worst :'(; well great news! He's back! My Baby Moo is back!! I know it's him because Ive taken pictures before and I compared and he has the exact same markings which are very detailed from a regular cow so I know it's him! and even if I didn't have the pictures to compare I think i'd still know because he does what only Baby Moo did and that is drool and blow bubbles out of his nose while I feed him lol :)
So I thank God he came back because I really love Baby Moo (and I think he loves me too !) here's some pictures from tonight when we went to feed them. And yes we kissed :) lol

Things like this always happen when I'm around..
So me and Aaron  go to the gas station today, and when we first get out of the car we see 2 guys talking, everything thing seemed fine, so we  get out and go get a drink and while we're waiting in line and just watching these two guys and what do you know? One pushes the other.. So the guy in front of us starts talking crap because his friends out there, and he sees a white van pull up and start talking crap so he runs out and like rips off his shirt and starts screaming at the top of his lungs "what what you wanna fight me?" and all the people in the van are just laughing at him and he starts walking over when they just take off as fast as they can; The guy who ripped his shirt off runs to his car and chases after. And thats all we got to see. I dont know what the deal was but to be honest I was a little afraid. But I keep laughing to myself why did this guy rip his shirt off? lol

Guy that looks like a thumb
Ok I know what your thinking, How could somebody possibly look like a thumb? Well they can; Check this, I was just doing some searching and I started typing " Guy th" and in the drop down box the first thing I see is "guy that looks like a thumb" I of course had to click it out of curiosity, and this is what I saw:
I found this picture on http://s3.amazonaws.com/enemydown/photos/713/rgx840_show.jpg. It really gave me a laugh so I thought you would all enjoy it.  :)

 Rescue an Animal
OK, this happened a couple days ago but I really wanted to share it with everyone.  The other day me and  my grandma were on our way home from the grocery store and there were 2 dead birds in the turning lane to go into my neighborhood. I was saddened by this and all I knew was that I didn't want these 2 birds to get desecrated by being run over again and again. So I went home and helped grandma put the groceries away and then I ran back with 2 plastic bags to where the birds were. The first bird I got to was a hawk and it looked as if its neck was broken, So I bagged him up and laid him on the median; after there were no cars coming I walked back over to get the other one and I could have sworn I saw this bird wink at me but I just thought no it can't be , so I continued to pick it up, and my bagged hand reached to grab it the bird kicked
it's feet at me., instantly I realized this bird was still alive and I carefully picked it up and rested it against my chest until I got home, when I got home I buried the hawk and then went to care for the other bird, which was an Ibis by the way., at first the bird couldn't really walk but after a few minutes of laying down on his stomach he started to walk. Then he would lay down again and rest and to be honest from the way he wobbled and everything I didnt think he'd make it honestly. But I grew attached to the bird and we took pictures and I fed him some worms that I had handy for my 2 turtles. I decided I should let him get some more rest so I went inside for a while, and about 2 hours after wards I went back out and got him standing on his feet again, He walked arond for a little bit and then the most surreal thing happened to me; the bird turned its head, looked at me, looked back and flew off into the sunset. This story may sound insane but it's completly true and without me Im sure this bird would have died and been run over by cars. I know this Ibis is out there somewhere; Maybe it was a sign from God letting me know that trying to save wild helpless animals is the right thing to do no matter what anyone else says.  Please take this to heart and the nest time you see a "dead" animal in the road just stop and move it, it dosn't hurt anything and who knows maybe you can be a hero too. Here is me and the Ibis the day I saved him.

Back from the retirement party
My mom works with this lady name Sue, and she was having a retirement party in my neighborhood
and I just went and checked it out, everyone from the post office is really fun, so I had a good time, and it made it even better that they ordered Dominoes pizza (yummy) and a bunch of other really good things, Like endive leaves with this really good homemade dip. I didn't get the recipe but I'm going to ask my mom get it for me, it was really good. I might even go back in a little bit to get some dessert lol :)

My insane grandma
OK it started when I awoke at 1:30 pm, she asked me to cut her hair (which shes been bugging me to do for weeks) so finally I said ok. We get in the bathroom and I swear with everyone single strand of hair I cut of she would gask and be like NOO!! my hair; and she wasn't even kidding.  Finally I got her hair done and my mom was home from work by that time, so she took us out to eat at Ruby Tuesdays; and for some reason this just drove me insane; My grandma bought a soup (Broccoli and Cheese) and she took one bite and said it was spicy, come on now, Broccoli and cheese spicy? lol I think she got a pepper kernel stuck in her tooth or something. Finally were on our way home and she needs to stop and look for a peach colored valance for her bathroom. First we stop at Walmart and she was happy with this green and peach colored one we found but she ended up not getting it because she wanted to go to Linens and Things, we get by Linens and Things and what the heck, they closed the store; so we actually go to Marshall's and guess what? They don't have even 1 valance in that store. So finally were on our way home; until I remembered I wanted to stop at the pet store; I tell me my and grandma gets annoyed with me because I need to make a stop, and I'm just like grandma seriously we just made like 80 stops for you, gimme a break I need to hole some ferrets.  So finally we were going home, she suggested Bed Bath and Beyond but luckily we convinced her to go tomorrow :)

RIP Big Nakie
I am heart broken, today my beloved rat Big Nakie passed away, he lived a long rat life about 3 years. But it still seems so short. I cried alot, but I have to be strong; he knew I loved him, and I know he loved me (or at least my carrots anyway). He will be missed and never forgotten, rest in piece Big Nakie.  About 4 months ago Big Nakie lost his brother Jumbo Nakie they'll be remembered by me forever.
Here they are at their peak of life.
RIP Big Nakie; February 19th, 2010. RIP Jumbo Nakie. You'll be loved forever.

Tiger's Speech
First let me say. I'm a golf lover, Ive played since I was a little girl and following the foot steps of my grandpa I loved Tiger Woods, he was like the best thing ever, now honestly... Tiger Woods is a joke. He had everything A beautiful wife and 2 great children and honestly I cant believe he'd throw it all away to be with some disease infested hookers and whoever else it was. I really hope the best for Elin and for her sake I really hope he will be a different man from now on. I think Tiger's speech sounded very cheesy, like what he was saying wasn't from the heart, he looked down every 3 seconds to see his next line, it was like a lost high school student stuttering out a piece of Shakespeare; If his speech was from the heart I feel like he should have been able to just say it without reading some paper. But oh well, what goes on goes on. Tiger Wood's is no longer someone to look up to in my book.

Fighting with grandpa

OK maybe I shouldn't be fighting with grandpa considering his situation. But let me say; he's acting ridiculous.
So..We've been working on remodeling our house for a while, like an upgrade. and so Ive been planning on this big surprise and everyone knew I had a surprise and they knew it involved working around the lanai. So today I to start working and my grandma comes out and says my cousin Randy was going to put pine needles around the lanai. And now let me say things were starting to get messy. BECAUSE I told Randy I was putting Sea Glass around the lanai. I've already bought 11 bags of the stuff, and let me say it is not cheap. SO I got mad because he's trying to ruin my plans and take credit for everything I had planned. And I simply said Randy can put his pine needles in his butt, and my grandpa got mad and started screaming that I can do what ever I want (but he said lots of curse words) and blah blah so now officially I am not doing the lanai. And I need to sell my sea glass or find something else to do with it :(

  3. Hey Amanda...just doing some reading here to find out a little more about you. I have read some of the posts before but now that it's NOT 3AM I am having a great time reading! Am showing my 11 year old your rat pics and the story about your lifesaving bird abilities. Now Morgan wants a rat SO bad and has picked out a name. Dr. Wiggles? (dont know where THAT came from!) She used to have hamsters but they had a short life span and was too hard on her when they died. I told her when she learns better to take care of HERSELF, then she may have one. My older kids had them many years ago and I admit i was freaked out at first. They were so gentle and fun to watch, and were so playful.

I grew up on a farm and had many cows as "pets" One was a calf born with disabilities and I named her Katie. We also had pigs, chickens, ducks, a lot of kittens, several dogs and a sassy horse named Sancho. Boy this post brought back some memories!

Your family sounds like a hoot and your mom looking out for you the best she can. My dad not around when growing up either (alcoholic) and my mom was my hero. I think the last four of us (of nine) wore her out! She's 78 now and she is the sweetest lady I know! Treasure your family Amanda!

Ps...yes, it's great to change a room but painting is boring as watching grass grow, or now...watching snow melt!
